So it's January 1; cue the reflection.
Thanks, InStyle magazine, for telling me that 2012 will be my year. Honestly, since 1991 they've pretty much all been my year. (Except for the latter half of 1998, which blew.)
This year, I want to do four things:
1. Keep running. I feel fantastic and look better than I did, so I would be stupid to stop running. Also, the more I run, the more ice cream I can eat. Priorities, y'all.
2. Do a good job with AP Language next semester. I have strong slacker tendencies, so I need a challenge to keep me sharp. I think these kids will have high expectations of me, and I don't want to disappoint them. And because they sought out a challenging course, I can be mad at them if they slack. It's a two-way street!
3. Write more, whether it's blogging or writing in my journal. Also, I want to do a "greatest hits" kind of journal for Charlotte. I wrote in a journal pretty religiously from the ages of 12 to 25, and I'd like to Charlotte to be able to read it someday...just not all of it. I think I'm going to keep the good stuff and shred the mooning over boys and whining about my life.
4. Forgive me for getting kind of Oprah-ish here, but I want to focus on what I have, not what I don't have. I don't have a compliant child, but I do have a smart, creative, assertive, funny one. I don't have a job that impresses people, but I do have a job that gives me enjoyment, autonomy, fulfillment, an intellectual challenge, and a decent amount of free time. I don't live in one of the world's coolest cities, but I do live in a city in which I can afford a decent house. I don't have a perfect life, but I do have a really, really good one.
Happy New Year, everyone.
I love your blog. And i am sure u will achieve all four of those goals.
