TV via Netflix
- The Book Group: Glaswegians (and some non-Glaswegians) talk about books, have affairs with each other, and eat poppy-seed cake without proper authorization. The cast includes Anne Dudek (House, Big Love), Rory McCann (Game of Thrones), and Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond from Lost!). Someone, please start watching this--I have no one to discuss it with!
- Bramwell: The exploits of a female doctor in Victorian London. I am so glad I don't live in Victorian London.
TV via the teevee
- Downton Abbey: Squeeeeeeeeeee!
- Justified: Oh, Raylan Givens. Women want him; men want to be him. I'm pretty sure that men want him and women want to be him, too. This show doesn't get as much love as Breaking Bad, but it's in the same tier. Smart, funny, and suspenseful.
Movies
- The Impossible: I can't wait to see this. According to reviews, my boyfriend Ewan McGregor has never been better. You have met my boyfriend, haven't you?
Books
- Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle trilogy. Delicious brain-candy about magic in a Victorian boarding school.
Music
- Radiohead, "Exit Music (for a Film)"
- The Old Ceremony, "Elsinore"
- Neil Halstead, "Palindrome Hunches"
Web
- Downton Abbeyonce: What better way to celebrate the return of the Crawley clan? I adore this site. How can you not love this?
Stuff
- Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Red Velvet: My search for the perfect sheer red lipstick has come to a successful end. I love the idea of red lipstick, but I feel like I'm in costume when I wear it. Until now, the sheer reds I've tried have really been more of a bright pink, and that's not what I signed up for. This stuff, though, is the promised land. I feel like such a glamazon when I wear it.
