...And the livin' is easy.

Summer!  It's here!  Well, no, it isn't.  Reality says that it's still spring; I still have a full day of work left, and then I have training next week.  Still, I'm not getting up at five anymore. so that's something.  Though it feels so near yet so far, I will be enjoying my awesome summer vacation soon (though Pat McCrory and his merry band of assholes may try to take that, as it's the last remaining perk of a teaching career, and some of them mistakenly think that they pay us for it).  However shall I spend my time?

1. Planning a creative writing course.
2. Picking fresh mint from my front yard and putting it in my iced tea.
3. Reading some classics.
4. Reading some garbage.
5. Visiting the Pacific Northwest for the first time.
6. Seeing the friend who helped me survive Texas (and made me realize that I love Harry Potter and cats) for the first time in several years.
7. Stingily parceling out episodes of Orange is the New Black so that the new season lasts as long as possible.
8. Visiting the Gillis Hill produce market at least three times a week, usually more, for okra, corn, tomatoes, and watermelon.
9. Dancing like everyone is watching, because I have mad skills.
10. Making ice cream.
11. Auditioning for Nunsense. If anyone has any suggestions for an audition song, let me know, because I'm drawing a blank.
12. Taking Charlotte to the library.
13. Planning daytrips, some of which we might actually go on.
14. Making basil lemonade.
15. Listening to my new favorite band, The Avett Brothers, with the zealotry of the new convert.

That's all I've got.  I usually start the summer with a list of books and shows to devour, but this year is kind of a blank slate.  If you know of something I must read or watch, let me know. Happy (almost) summer!
