Whole30: Day 3

I tried another tea: Harney and Sons chocolate mint. It's okay. I really want my usual coffee back.

Breakfast
sweet potato bowl

I don't crave variety at breakfast, so I'll likely eat this every damn day. It's really good.

Lunch
Taco salad (romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, salsa, guacamole)

This was my first disappointing meal. It should have been good, but it wasn't. Fortunately, I finished lunch with a big bowl of watermelon. Watermelon season is the most wonderful time of the year.

I have a headache. Again. I really need my usual coffee back.

Snack
I was hungry (and a bit cranky) after my lackluster lunch, so I had a boiled egg.

Dinner
Carnitas (from the Whole30 book--good af!), sweet potato, leftover squash. The carnitas are fantastic, and the recipe makes a ton. I put some in the fridge for leftovers, and I put some in the freezer for later. That's going to be awesome when school starts.

Awesome discovery
Tazo Iced Citrus Bliss herbal tea. Not sweet, but lightly fruity and refreshing. Great for a summer afternoon.

And now the big news....
My Whole30 just became a half-ass 30, and I'm okay with that. To paraphrase LL Cool J, I'm going back to coffee (and yes, I definitely do think so). With half and half. With sugar. Dammit, I only  have one cup a day, and I don't load it up with either of those things. I plan to stick to the program in every other way. And yes, I know that this means I'm technically not doing Whole30 anymore, but we all know why I'm modifying the way I eat, and it's not to find out what my food sensitivities are. Two tablespoons of half and half and two teaspoons of sugar every day aren't going to break me. If I find that sugar in my coffee every morning sets me off and makes me crave sugar for the rest of the day, I'll make do with sad tea. But really, I think it's going to be okay. Seriously, those two teaspoons will be the only (non-fruit) sugar I have all day. Really. I mean it. I promise.
