Whole30: Day 5

We all know what happened first thing this morning. No need to keep bringing it up. Unless you hear otherwise, you can just take for granted that I've had one cup of coffee with a little half and half and a little sugar.

Breakfast
Sweet potato bowl. Still good even with non-Maine blueberries. (The Maine blueberries are superior, though. I miss them.)

Lunch
A big pile of chopped romaine, leftover grilled chicken, and this bomb ranch dressing. So easy and so good. Better than Hidden Valley Ranch from the bottle (not as good as the packet mixed with milk and mayo, because what is?). I was a bit suspicious, as it's just made from Whole30 mayo, coconut milk (of course), and a handful of jarred herbs and spices, but it was tasty. This salad was so much better than the sad taco salad of Day 3. Would it be more delicious with fresh parsley and hand-minced garlic? Probably yes, but I like that it's made with pantry ingredients. I don't typically have fresh parsley on hand. And while I like to cook and use fresh ingredients, it's nice when something can just be easy.

Delicious watermelon for afters, of course.

I had to accompany my family to the local "fun center" this afternoon, and I would have killed for a Diet Coke. Or a regular Coke, for that matter. I had some water and felt very proud of this show of self-restraint, and then I saw that they carried Pepsi products. There is no damn way I'm drinking Diet Pepsi, so it was a non-issue all along.

After all the "fun," we went to the nearby cupcake bakery. I love my husband and all, but seriously, fuck him for that. I came home and ate a hard-boiled egg because I was hungry. What is my life.

Dinner
Leftover grilled chicken, salad (with the ranch from earlier, which wasn't quite as good as I remembered from lunch), roasted broccoli

I'm getting a lot better about using up leftovers, which is good.

I'm about to have a bowl of the only food that brings me joy--delicious watermelon. How does anyone do Whole30 when it's not watermelon season?
